Our expert staff has years of experience in elite performance training, strength and conditioning, physical therapy and massage therapy. The staff at Impact Sports Performance, Synapse Physical Therapy and Boulder Therapeutics have worked with athletes in the NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS, IHL, NCAA and US National teams.

 Impact Sports Performance Staff:

Jamie, an orginal owner and founder of Impact Sports Performance, comes with a wealth of experience in the sports arena.  A Colorado kid, Jamie grew up in Ft Collins and attended Rocky Mountain High School.  After high school he went on to play in college and professionally! Jamie played linebacker in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans in 2000 following a career at Northern Colorado. He also played in the NFL Europe League with the Amsterdam Admirals and locally for the Colorado Crush of the AFL.  At UNC, Jamie earned 1st Team All-American and 1st Team All-Academic Honors and set records for most career interceptions returned for touchdowns and tackles in a playoff game. He also ranks in UNC's all time top five in several categories including tackles, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries while being and integral part of the back-to-back National Championships in 1996-97.

Following his playing career, Jamie's passion for working with kids and athletes, combined with his vast knowledge and experience in speed, strength and conditioning led him into the field of sport specific training. His playing career, his knowledge of performance training and his passion for learning and discovering new beneficial ways to train athletes gives him a rare and exciting combination. Jamie has long term goals of working with young student athletes and helping them achieve their goals, both on the field and, more importantly, off the field. He strives to instill hard work ethic while creating a fun and energetic training environment. Recently Jamie has been hired as a consultant for Nike/SPARQ to work with the top soccer athletes in the country including the US National Womens and Youth teams.  Some of Jamie's accomplishments include being the strength and conditioning coach for the Colorado Rapids MLS (2006-2010) as well as the USA Rugby Collegiate All-Americans (2007).  In 2009, Jamie was hired by Powerade to be the featured trainer for their recent commercial featuring Shawne Merriman (San Diego Chargers), Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets), Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers) and Ryan Howard (Philidelphia Phillies). 

Jamie is married to his college sweetheart, Kari, and has two children, Casey and Madison. He loves spending time with his family watching movies, playing at the park, and hanging out with friends.

Michael, (an original owner at Impact Sports Performance) a Certified Athletic Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, brings over 18 years of experience in the field of sports medicine and rehabilitation to Impact Sports.  As part of the Impact Team, Michael provides sports performance training, rehabilitation as well as marketing.  A native of Chicago, Michael has been fortunate to work with all levels of athletes from the weekend warrior to professional athletes.  Most recently he served as a Clinical Athletic Trainer at a Boulder sports medicine clinic.  Prior to this he was an Athletic Trainer with the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL for 6 years, additionally he has worked with teams from the NBA, MLB, MLS and NFL.  He continues to work with the US Rugby and US Soccer national teams

Michael has been active with legislation in the athletic training profession.  He also teaches courses in anatomy and rehabilitation throughout the country.  Michael received a B.S. degree in Athletic Training from Southern Illinois University and a M.S. degree in Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology from the University of Illinois. 

Michael and his wife Amy reside in Aurora and enjoy spending time with their triplets (Charlie, Molly and Katy) and their twins (Patrick and Daniel).  Yes, you are reading this correctly, trips and twins!!!!! He also is a volunteer at The Denver Children’s Hospital.

Rylan comes to Impact with a strong athletic background and a wealth of coaching experience.  He graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a BA in Exercise Science.  In highschool, Rylan was a three sport varsity athlete (football, basketball, baseball) earning All-conference and All-State awards in baseball and football.  After high school, Rylan went on to play middle infield at Otero Junior College and Mesa State College.

Rylan is currently a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS throught the NSCA) and he also coaches Impact's Collegiate Summer Baseball Team.  He truly enjoys working with young athletes, pushing them to the peak of their athletic potential. Rylan has trained hundreds of youth, high school, college and pro level athletes to increase their speed and overall performance on their "field" of play! Recently, Rylan organized one of the most successful camps in Impact History, the Todd Helton Baseball camp that also featured Florida Marlins AAA manager and hitting coach Greg Norton!

Outside of Impact, Rylan enjoys hiking, fly fishing and camping.  He met his wife in college at MSC and they have three children together; Payton, Dane and Brecken.

Tyler comes to Impact Sports with a wealth of experience in the field of sports performance.  He grew up playing mulitiple sports throughout his childhood from soccer to football.  In high school he was a four year varsity player in football and won 1st team all conference honors his senior year.  In 2006 Tyler's love of football and human performance led him to Colorado State University for a BS in Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in Health Promotion.  The program coursework was heavily weighted in internships-training athetes of various ages, performance levels and sports disciplines, as well as recreation management and an ACE personal training certification.  He was also a strength and conditioning assistant for Rocky Mountain High School and a performance specialist for a private strength and conditioning facility in the Fort Collins area.  After graduation in 2010 Tyler completed independent studies to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA in 2011.  After 2 years with Impact Sports, he has become seasoned in Nike SPARQ testing and training.  Tyler is passionate about motivating and advancing athletes of all abilities: physically, mentally and spiritually.

Tyler is also currently an assistant varsity/strength and conditioning coach for Brighton High School's girls soccer program.

Tim is a welcomed assest to the Impact Sports Performance team! His nutrition programs have taken collegiate and professional athletic performance to the next level.  He provides comprehensive nutritional counselling to every type of client.  Not only does Tim excel in custom nutrional counsel, but he an expert in the fitness industry.  Tim runs one aspect of our Adult Fitness at Impact with the Iron Sharpens Iron training program.  The idea of adding the ISI program comes from his experience at Northwestern College and through his 4 years of football and wrestling there. Working in a highly competitive environment at Northwestern provided a great level of physical, mental, and spiritual growth, something Tim was eager to engage. Now, Tim is excited to bring his energy and focus to the ISI program at Impact Sports Performance.   

Currently, Tim also acts as strength coach and assistant coach for Cornerstone Christian Academy in Westminster.

Pam Wildman, Office Manager/Volleyball Skills Instructor

Pam comes to Impact with not only a strong athletic background and coaching background but with more than 20 years experience in the business arena.  She graduated from USC in Pueblo with a degree in Business Administration in 1986.  In high school, Pam was a three sport varsity athlete (Volleyball, Basketball and Track), earning honorable mention and all state awards in basketball ranking 8th in the State of Colorado in scoring.  She was also named “Athlete of the Year” in 1977. 

While serving as the Varsity Volleyball Coach at the Academy of Charter Schools, Pam started the first ever youth volleyball camp and volleyball tournament.  She also maintains the highest winning record as a volleyball coach there, turning in a 19-3 record in 2007, winning the 2007 District title and making the first ever Regional birth for the school.  She was also named “Coach of the Year” in 2007 alongside her daughter, Alea, who took away the “Player of the Year” award.    You can read her testimonial about her daughter’s success and team’s success while training at Impact Sports under the testimonial tab.

Pam has won several sales awards, fundraising awards and was named “Woman of the Year” for Colorado in 1988 based on professional and civic achievements.

Pam is currently serving as our Office Manager and Volleyball Skills Instructor.   She enjoys working out, working with young athletes and watching her daughter, Alea, play collegiate volleyball.

Lauren Green, Performance Intern

A California native, Lauren was born and raised in Los Angeles. A multi-sport athlete in high school, Lauren shined in baseball as a member of the CIF All State 1st team and Baseball America magazines “Top 250 Players: Class of 2004”. Continuing his baseball career, Lauren attended College at Riverside Community College (CA), Southwestern Oregon Community College (OR), and finished at St. Cloud State University (MN). After finishing his playing career, he graduated from St. Cloud State with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education with a minor in Athletic Coaching.

During his time playing baseball in college, Lauren spent his summers as a part of the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League with the Cheyenne Grizzlies. It was during this time Lauren’s love for the rocky mountain region grew. In the summer of 2011, Lauren moved to Denver to pursue his master’s degree in exercise science and develop his skills as a performance coach. Using his sports and coaching background, Lauren motivates athletes through positive reinforcement and confidence building in skill development. Functionality and performance are a large part of his training, to go along with his passion for helping people and creating personal relationships.

Lauren comes to Impact Sports Performance as a Senior Performance Intern. She will be graduating with honors from Illinois State University in May 2012 with a degree in Exercise Science. Lauren was born and raised in Momence, Illinois where she was heavily involved in athletics. Though she also played basketball in high school, softball was her true passion. She was a manager for the football team at Illinois State University.

Outside of participating in athletics, Lauren enjoys to work with children. She has taught preschool swim lessons and coached youth basketball and volleyball. Her previous internship at FitBodies Crossfit in Bloomington, Illinois also allowed her the opportunity to assist in coaching youth hockey training sessions.

Lauren is excited to be a part of the Impact Sports Performance staff and is looking forward to gaining experience with athletes of all ages and abilities.

Brie Bumpus, Performance Intern

Brie comes to Impact Sports Performance as a Senior Performance Intern.  She plans to graduate in May 2012 at Iowa State University with a degree in Exercise Science.  Brie grew up in Hoffman Estates, Illinois and then moved to Johnston, IA in middle school.  In high school Brie was a 4 year varsity State qualifier in Diving, and a two year Conference Champion.  She also was on the high school Cheerleading Squad for 2 years, and led her squad to a State Title her senior year.  Brie continued cheering all 4 years in college on the Iowa State University Cheerleading Squad, competing in National competitions and placing in the top 5 every year.  She also has been involved in power tumbling since she was 5 years old and has continued to use these skills throughout college.

Apart from participating in athletics throughout the years, Brie has also helped coach youth Diving in high school.  She also was previously an intern at the Iowa State Exericse Clinic.

Brie is excited to be a part of the Impact Sport Performance staff and is looking forward to expanding her experience in coaching.

Michael Buggs
High level basketball is nothing new to Mike. He was starter on the 2002 Metro State national championship team where he played under his basketball mentor, Mike Dunlap.  Dunlap is regarded as one the best basketball teachers in the country and endorses Buggs' coaching. In 2011 Mike was inducted into the Metro State Hall of Fame. As a player Mike was an undersized post player, who possessed great footwork and a soft scoring touch. Mike specialized in creating space on the offensive end and his ability to shoot from distance, put the ball on the floor and pass created match up problems for opposing defenders. Mike played professionally after his career at Metro State, and has experience training NBA players most notably J.R. Smith. As an instructor Mike specializes in shooting, scoring, footwork and post play.

Gwen Clarke, Volleyball Skills Instructor

Gwen is from Superior, Colorado and has help out for the last three Summers, here, at Impacts Sports with our Volleyball Camps.  She played high school volleyball locally and then for Armstrong Atlantic State in Georgia.  Below are a list of just a few of her accomplishments:

Earned All Region honors in 2010 leading her college team  with 326 kills and 103 blocks.

Made 3 straight NCAA Championship appearances.

Finished her college career tying 7th on the Armstrong all-time kills charts.

Earned All-PBC and All-PBC Tournament honors in 2010.

Named MVP f the Mount Olive Classic in Oct. 2010

All-Tournament team at the Catawba Invitational in Sept 2010.

Alea Wildman, Volleyball Skills Instructor

Alea Wildman was first introduced to our staff back in 2006 with an ACL rupture.  Impact Sports Performance and Synapse Physical Therapy had a key role in getting Alea back to stellar athletism.  Alea currently plays volleyball collegiately and has worked for Impact Sports Performance for the last three during her off season.  Below is a just a few of Alea's accomplishments.   

2010: Was a RMAC academic honor roll selection ... Appeared in 25 matches while earning starts in 24 of those matches ... Led the team in kills with 247 while averaging 2.81 kills per game ... Had a career-high 20 kills vs. Adams State on Oct. 28 ... Finished third on the team in blocks with 37 ... Also accumulated 271.5 points in 2010 while averaging 3.08 points per game.

2009: Made more of an impact as a sophomore playing in all 30 matches while starting in 29 of them ... Finished third on the team in kills with 215 for an average of 2.22 per game ... Tied her career-high of 17 kills vs. Chadron State Oct. 3 ... Earned 37 digs in 2009 ... Registered 34.0 blocks with an average of 0.35 blocks per game.

2008: Saw significant playing time as a freshman, playing in 26 matches and starting 23 ... Led the team in kills with 188, averaging 2.04 kills per game ... Rolled in the Pack's win over Colorado Christian Oct. 9, recording a season-high 17 kills ... Closed the season strong, registering 10 or more kills in three of the team's final four matches.

High School: Was a first team selection to the Colorado 3A all-state team as a senior while at the Academy of Charter Schools in Westminster, Colo. ... Was an all-state honorable mention selection as a junior ... Led the state of Colorado (all classifications) in kills as a senior, only a season removed from tearing her ACL ... Was a three-time first-team all-conference selection, and was an honorable mention all-league selection as a freshman ... Named the Frontier League Player of the Year as a senior ... Helped the Wildcats to the District 6 title during her senior campaign ... Also competed in basketball, helping the Wildcats to the District 6 championship in 2008 and earning first team all-league and 3A state honorable mention honors ... An outstanding student, she graduated with a 4.0 GPA ... Was a member of "National Honor Society" and "Invisible Children".

 

Synapse Physical Therapy Staff:

Jeff was born and raised in Iliff, Colorado. He studied Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training at the University of Northern Colorado where he played division two college football. He continued on to graduate school obtaining his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy as Regis University in 1998. With over 12 years working in the physical therapy field, Jeff brings valuable experience with sports and orthopedic injuries and has advanced training in biomechanical identification of the overhead athlete. He has taken numerous courses all over the country and is most interested in shoulder rehabilitation. He continues to educate clinicians within the community on current techniques involving the shoulder complex. Jeff loves training athletes especially baseball players and brings a fun and energetic personality to Synapse Physical Therapy.

Sara Zajac, DPT, CSCS, Physical Therapist

Sara is originally from St. Paul, MN. She graduated from the University of Florida for both her undergraduate and graduate Physical Therapy coursework. Sara is especially passionate about rehabilitating the knee having recovered from ACL reconstruction herself 10 years ago. As an avid runner, she takes pride in helping to coach people to their first race, whatever the distance may be. Sara loves to rehabilitate runners and cyclists with overuse injuries as well and enjoys getting athletes back on track. With two years of experience as a physical therapist in the field, Sara continues to be committed to learning and sharpening her skills. Other interests include: cooking, playing the piano, any outdoor activities, and all things GATORS.

Jennifer is beginning her career in the physical therapy field at Synapse as an aide. She grew up in Southern Arizona and attended the University of Northern Colorado, earning a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a minor in nutrition. She is gaining valuable experience and enhancing the fun atmosphere of Synapse while preparing for a graduate level program to become a doctor of Physical Therapy. During an internship in the fall of 2010, Jennifer discovered her love for this field while rehabilitating and training patients with individualized routines under Jeff and Sara’s guidance. She enjoys running and dancing as well as working with athletes in those fields to help them reach their full potential. 

Aimee Chase, PT Aid

Aimee is a recent graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Integrative Physiology.  She grew up in Aurora, Colorado where she began dancing at the age of four.  She danced competitively until senior year of high school and was also a member of a junior ballet company located in Boulder, and that's when she fell in love with the town. While attending CU, she continued to dance by joining the CU Express Dance Team.  Her interest in physical therapy began with her own numerous visits to the physical therapist due to dance-specific injuries.  The knowledge she is gaining here at Synapse is preparing her for furthering her education in physical therapy.  She is excited and happy to be a part of the Synapse team!

David has been treating athletes and injured clients since 1999.  He manages Boulder Therapeutics which has 2 office locations:  Boulder & Broomfield.  He and his team of therapists specialize in Sports Therapy, Injury Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Deep Tissue massage for the relief of chronic pain patterns. They worked with the Colorado Rapids for 12 seasons and combine a number of therapeutic techniques from various modalities such as Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, Strain/Counter Strain, Trigger Point Therapy, and Breath Awareness.

David worked as the Team Massage Therapist for the Colorado Rapids MLS Soccer from 1999-2010, with the USA Rugby Team and a number of other professional athletes & teams.  He is a national speaker and Anatomy Instructor for Core Power Yoga Teacher Training & other studios since 2005.  He has also worked with the Denver Center for Performing Arts Dancers and Traveling Performers since 2000: Lord of the Dance, Kiss Me Kate, Burn the Floor, Victor Victoria, The Little Mermaid, Professional Cyclists and Athletes (NFL, World Cup, Olympic, All Star), MMA fighters, many Chiropractor, Physical Therapy and Doctor referrals, and is a Speaker at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy. 

David works from the Boulder office location and can discuss your treatment options via phone or email.

Ashley Simmons, CMT, Massage Therapist

Ashley received her massage therapy certification from the Boulder College of Massage Therapy. After studying massage for 2 years, she graduated with over 1,000 hours of hands-on training and massage experience.  She works with Boulder Therapeutics and provides results-oriented massage therapy.

She has a kind-hearted nature and is passionate about helping her clients heal.  Her areas of expertise are:  Sports Massage , Trigger Point Therapy, Injury Rehab/Prevention,  Swedish Massage  and  Therapeutic Deep Tissue Massage. 
 
Ashley is an athlete having competed in snowboarding, soccer and rugby at the national level.  She has run many of Boulder's local 5-10K races and also has training in dance.  With her background in athletics, Ashley understands the therapeutic needs of today's athletes. Her education, knowledge, and experience with the treatment of basic athletic injuries aid her in the evaluation and treatment of her clients. 
 
Experience: Ashley has been working with the Colorado Rapids Major League soccer team since 2008 providing mid-week and game-day treatments to the players. She has 3 years experience as a medical assistant to high school trainers and has provided massage therapy to many different athletes from International Rugby teams (such as the Argentina Jaguars) to professional fighters (MMA) to runners at Bolder Boulder.

Rachel completed her massage therapy training in 2007 in Oklahoma. She moved to the Boulder area in 2011 excited and ready to expand her field of practice to Colorado athletes and those in need of rehabilitative massage due to injury and chronic pain.  Rachel joined the Boulder Therapeutics team in January 2012. 

Rachel is exceptionally invested in each of her clients and carefully tailors their treatment plan around their specific needs. She finds her work very fulfilling and enjoys watching the transformation of her clients’ health and well-being as their injuries improve and they begin to live pain-free. She specializes in Therapeutic Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Pediatric Massage Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation and Swedish Massage.

Being a recreational athlete, Rachel is able to perceive and respond to the needs of the body. She has been treating chronic pain and sports related injuries since 2007 in Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Offices, as well as OU Children’s Hospital. With a background in Pediatric Massage Therapy, she is eager to work with youth athletes and their instructors to help them reach their top performance.
